Micheline Robinson - Disjointed
10th of Dec. 2024 - 26th of Jan. 2025

In an age where the very fabric of our communities is eroded by digital influences, a
post-COVID world has shifted paradigms, and media is increasingly manipulated by
AI-generated content, Micheline Robinson invites us into a playful yet poignant exploration
with her new series, "Disjointed." This exhibition offers a visceral experience that mirrors,
through optical illusions, the pervasive sense of fragmentation in contemporary society. In a
humorous yet thought provoking take, the feeling of disjointedness is splattered across the
walls in intriguing shapes, akin to visual onomatopoeia.

Robinson's technique involves meticulous hand-painted layers of inks on carved metal
panels, utilizing the strategic interplay of light and shadow to bring forth organic forms that
oscillate between the recognizable and the mysterious. Her artwork transcends mere
occupation of space; it transports the observer into another dimension, reminding us of our
tangibility and the inherent beauty within it.

This installation not only captures the artist's personal response to the disjointed nature of
modern life but also serves as an escapist retreat. It encourages the audience to ponder the
weight of the unseen, question the very fabric of reality, and engage actively with the
narrative of their times. Each piece in "Disjointed" acts as a catalyst for personal reflection,
urging visitors to explore the depths of human emotion and consciousness amidst today's
era of pervasive illusion and uncertainty.
