Double Perspective: A Cross-Cultural Artistic Journey
From feelings of awe to existential angst, these paintings were chosen to chromatically respond to Claire Wastiaux's works in our touring exhibition Double Perspective: A Cross-Cultural Artistic journey. Journaling visually our process as expatriates.
All of these works are handpainted, play with optical illusions, are acrylic inks on aluminium panels, 132 cm x 132 cm. The wooden frames were built by me and are part of the artwork.
My paintings operate on multiple planes of perceptions. The visual textures beckon viewers to draw near, evoking sensations akin to those experienced when witnessing uncharted landscapes. Simultaneously, the solitary figures, at times enclosed within boxes and at others set against unfamiliar backdrops, mirror my own emotional journey of expatriation.
